Jesus said that HE was the Resurrection and the Life. ![]() And when bad things happen we need to ask the hard question: How will God glorify Himself in this situation? And when God is glorified, people then believe. Jesus stayed on that cross because He loves you. ![]() But Jesus said that the death of His friend happened so that glory would be given to God. Sometimes we have a hard time believing in Jesus. And then there were the others who went to the Pharisees. He is BEYOND what is natural in our eyes.Īfter Jesus raised Lazarus from the dead, many people believed that Jesus was the Son of God. He could have gone **POOF** and disappeared whenever He wanted. Not only does Jesus control who lives and died, but He controlled whether or not HE lived or died. Jesus showed people that He controlled life and death. In this event, Jesus raised someone from the dead. The more we learn, the more we realize there is more TO learn. But the truth is, there is no way we can EVER know enough about God. People, you, me, scientists, like to think they have God all figured out. Martha believed that if Jesus had been there, he would have been able to save him Mary believed that even now, Jesus could do something about it (verse 21-22). In verses 1-16, we see different people reacting differently to the news of Lazarus’s death. The more we learn, the more we understand this experiment. Use this Jesus and Lazarus Science Lesson to help children learn that Jesus is God and has power over death.īackground: Jesus did some amazing things and His ministry grew. John clearly saw the Lazarus event as the last great deed Jesus performed as proof of his divinity before his arrest and crucifixion.Jesus said that HE was the Resurrection and the Life. However, Luke’s account of this event is much briefer than John’s Lazarus story, and it happens much earlier in Jesus’ life. In Luke 7:14-15, Jesus raises the dead son of a widow, with the wording of Luke (‘And he that was dead sat up’) being echoed by John’s ‘And he that was dead came forth’. Whatever the truth of it, there are examples elsewhere in the Gospels of Jesus raising the dead. It’s possible (as the authors of the Dictionary of the Bible suggest) that John is expanding the parable of the rich man and Lazarus from Luke’s gospel (in which Lazarus, the humble beggar, goes to heaven but the rich man does not). But only John mentions the story of Jesus raising Lazarus (the other one) from the dead. Luke (chapter 16) tells of Jesus’ parable of the rich man and Lazarus, but this Lazarus (a beggar) isn’t the one whom Jesus raised from the dead. They appear to have been different people. ![]()
